Building the Beast
Okay, so I haven’t posted in a few days. I’ve been busy building my PVR … or DVR or Home Theater PC. I documented nearly everything and will post the pictures very soon now. The reason for the delay is simple: I had to find out whether or not my mad PC building skillz were up to snufizzle. They are. If everything had gone up in smoke I would have hit the history eraser button, crawled into a cave and complained about the darned kids on my lawn. As it happens, I’ve been inside watching HDTV programs about old men who chase kids off of their lawns. No need to go outside.
Did you know that KOPB-DT (sub channel 1) plays the same ten programs over and over in HD? They look great but, honestly, I can repeat the narration by heart now. No need for a PVR; I can act out all of the shows no matter where I am! My favorite program is the one they made in the late nineties about the future of DTV and how it was going to be all over the place by the turn of the century. Oops. They also forgot to take into account how unforgiving the medium’s resolution would be to hosts with “problem” skin. Just saying…
