This post at The Volokh Conspiracy brought back memories of a previous life when I was responsible for an email system with more than two thousand users. Occasionally one of our massive distribution lists would get spammed or otherwise receive an errant message and several hundred people would get copied on some nonsense. Most people [...]

“Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.” And every few days, Sony batteries cause laptops to burst forth with loud report.
Apple, following a similar move by Dell, is recalling some of its laptop batteries. If you own an iBook G4 or Powerbook G4 and your lap hasn’t already reached [...]

The New Fall TV Season is almost upon us and the networks stand to unleash some number of new shows greater than 2 and less than 50 Bazillion (all statistics are approximate.) With so many choices (isn’t capitalism grand?), how on earth can a person be expected to sort through the list? One way to [...]

Apparently Google is upset that people are using google as a verb.
How did I find out about this? I googled for it. I’m going to print this out on Kleenax, TiVo it and Xerox it onto a pair of Nylons.
Sheesh. I thought becoming a household name was supposed to be a good thing.

Lately I’ve been thinking that the three-year-old lamp in my DLP projector might be nearing the end of its life. I have been running it a lot lately. I should begin this post by pointing out that the NFL has rules preventing me from using any of their intellectual property without their “express, written consent.” I think it’s safe to say that I viewed one of their sports related broadcasts last night on my new PVR in high definition.
Two teams played a pre-season [...]

A former religious broadcasting station in Fresno, California is marketing itself as “Porn Radio.” What exactly constitutes the 21-55 “suburban porn” demographic format?
Songs with little in common except suggestive titles and lyrics fill the playlist, including “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road” by The Beatles, “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye and “Nasty” by [...]

Our street is closed today for “slurry seal” work. Slurry is a sticky substance the county lays over road asphalt to keep it looking rich, regal and supple.
Here you can see just how tired our street looks. It needs a makeover.
Ah. That’s better. In just a few short hours it will be dry enough to [...]

I saw this ScareCrow gizmo over at Gizmodo on my WebBrowserO this MorNingO. It’s a lawn sprinkler with a motion sensor attached. (Two. TWO products in one!) If unwanted critters find their way onto your lawn, the sprinkler will come on and frighten said critter into his or her next karmic incarnation. As Gizmodo author [...]
