While the new Star Trek movie is already doomed in that it comes in at number 11 (an odd number), I very much hope this is not true:
It has been confirmed that Romulans are the main antagonists in the film, led by Nero (the primary villain) and his second-in-command, Ayel. Their plot involves not only [...]

If you’re familiar with the Japanese story and film called Rashomon, (and I suppose to some extent, the TV series 24), then you’ll find quite a lot to like in Vantage Point. It’s one part point-of-view experiment and one part traditional thriller. If you’re not into all that egg-head “perspective and perception of the human [...]

Meh. It didn’t suck.
Or as I once heard a music critic say of a popular band, “We haven’t heard anything like this from them since their last album.” Spider-Man 3 had everything: the Stan Lee cameo, the Bruce Campbell cameo (okay, a really funny cameo) and the Spider-Man theme snuck in as a practical music [...]

I was all ready to skip this movie because I couldn’t make heads or tails of the Beowulf poem when I read it in high school. However, right now I’m a little bored and it is difficult for me to do much more than to lay still and watch TV so I thought, “why not?” [...]

I just finished watching 300, the movie about Spartans that probably never existed in actual history. I have to say, while I found the film to contain some of the most rich and idealized photography, it was also the silliest cool thing I’ve ever seen.
Make no mistake… it was decidedly cool. …and also silly.

The headline was “Gore’s Oscar Fuels Call for Late Run.” Thanks to early morning sleepiness, I thought the headline was suggesting we all go out for coffee. In all honesty, I’m much more excited about the latte than about the other thing.

I wasn’t going to blog on this terrible turn of events but TT and I started riffing on it this morning over coffee. As you may have heard (and, honestly, where could you have been to prevent the hearing?), Britney Spears, after spending one day in rehab decided to shave her head. According to [...]

I finally got around to seeing the award-eligible Kirby Dick (can I say that?) documentary on the MPAA ratings system. Much of what I saw there didn’t especially surprise me — I already knew the MPAA was a film industry conglomerate not above getting Congress [...]

My MySpace pals know of a certain weakness I have for a certain beautiful and talented actress who shall remain nameless… mostly because the restraining order specifically prohibits me from doing so.
TT doesn’t mind my fantasy because there’s no chance in hades I’ll ever actually meet this actress and also because I put up with [...]

A friend of mine pointed me to this account over at CNN (so you know it’s both true and news).
Synopsis: Director makes high-budget, low-grade film based on vampire video game. Film critics pan it. Director challenges critics to a fight (in a boxing ring). One critic has the audacity to be shocked when he is [...]
