Let’s try this again. I wasn’t able to do a lot of riding last year for health reasons. My hope is that 2009 will go better in that respect than did 2008.

It was unseasonably warm for February today so I was prompted to pull Straddle out of the garage to stretch her forks. She wears her “crap, I dropped it again” scratches like a badges of honor… only less full of honor. Plastic is expensive.

There’s still snow on the ground but I’ve started sorting through my gear for the up-coming riding season. Despite a terrible headache today (I have no idea why), the bright sunshine (ouch! my eyes!) inspired me to do inventory.

I’ve also replaced my eight-year-old (and crash tested) Aerostich Darien pants with a pair of AD1s from the same company. They’ll need tailoring of course because I’m vertically challenged. Nothing new there.

I won’t chase you away like I do in the summer. You, the one in the green coat: you missed a spot.

We’ve been “childless” for a while now. The time was right for a new critter so we looked and looked until she found us.

Welcome home, Natalie.

Born in July, adopted today from the Whitman County Humane Society in Pullman. She has her shots; she’s had that little, ahem, operation and she’ll meet her new vet tomorrow.

We’re going to hold her back a year before starting school. She’s young for her age.

Meow.
