Canine haute couture, winter 2004By Hunter S. Thompson, |
My new line of canine mufflers will debut on the Paris fashion runways this winter and I am excited!
The great designer Christian Dogior has been my role model for some time now. As a little canine with thinning fur, I have sought ways to find warmth. In my quest to blend both warmth and fashion to create haute couture, I took Dogior's words to heart. He said "Haute couture consists of secrets whispered from generation to generation." I have been listening to old blankets and quilts and have learned a lot from them. I've also used Internet resources with my iBook to research the great fashion houses of Paris. I know that my line will make a big splash at this year's events. In addition to creating a new fashion line, I've also had to take on the role of chief, well, only model, so I'm exhausted both creatively and physically. The muffler line is in a myriad of colors, for both evening and day wear. Here I model both the "dog-caught-in-snowstorm" color and my runway gallop. Nearly a thousand fashion journalists and photographers will focus on me at the haute couture show when I exhibit my collection. The atmosphere will be intense and competitive. I hope I don't pee! My collection features varying widths and circumferences of mufflers, with matching outfits for our owners as well. The pieces can be worn singly or together, inside or outdoors. In the front rows, potential clients will be taking notes. They'll write about the luxurious fabrics I've chosen, including silk, mink, satin, fleece, flannel and Kevlar. The color palette ranges from off-white to puce. As the great French designer Madelaine Violette said "Haute couture is the art of raising a collar to hide increasingly multiple chin lines." I think I've succeeded. |
