Powers, Oregon

Jim's Fountain Cafe is located in the bustling downtown area of Powers. Everyone I saw here smiled, said hello or waved. Children pointed, smiled and said, "motorcycle." The children's parents didn't seem to mind as they also were smiling and/or waving or saying hello. If I didn't enjoy "city" life so much, I'd want to live in Powers. The people in this town are incredibly nice.

The road (the Coquille-Rogue Scenic Byway) into Powers from the north off of highway 42 is scenic. The scenic parts can be found to either side of the road; the road itself is what I might call "rustic" or perhaps even "classic." The road to the south of Powers is even more scenic on the sides and even more "classic" on the surface. Sometimes there is no surface. Next time I travel through there I'll take a pickup truck.
