dreaming of the open roadRose City Grand Tour 1999

I will be making a number of journeys this year on my motorcycle. Some of the trips will be impromptu, some of them are planned. The bulk of my touring time this year will be spent riding the Rose City Motorcycle Club "Grand Tour."

The Grand Tour is a six month long rally (April 1 through September 30) with 15 "in state" and 4 out-of-state checkpoints. The idea is to visit at least ten of the Oregon checkpoints in the allotted time, collecting a stamp from each one. There is a big banquet at the end with prize drawings. The more checkpoints a rider visits, the more chances he/she has of winning. (The out-of-state checkpoints are worth double.)

If you, the reader, happen to also be taking part in the tour, drop me a note and say "hello." You'll notice that I'm not arriving at these checkpoints in book order. (Or in any order at all for that matter.)

Not all of my destinations are tour points... sometimes I just go somewhere for the heck of it.
