The day-by-day play-by-playDay 1 - Block Party |
Sabbatical 1998 - Day 1
Unfortunately the weather isn't cooperating at all. The rain will certainly put a damper on the fireworks show scheduled for this evening. On a positive note, we can be assured that the houses will burn slower if they're wet.
One of the main attractions has not been an air cannon. See, none of us would be in possession of an air cannon (that shoots water balloons scores of feet down range) because possession of such a thing would be dangerous and probably a violation of several city ordinances. But... if we did have an air cannon, it would be a lot of fun until someone filled it to over 100 psi and it exploded, throwing PVC debris for half a block. So... it's a real good thing that we didn't have an air cannon.
Everyone behaved in a civilized manner and no unnatural deaths were allowed to be reported. Certain unauthorized incendiary devices went almost completely unnoticed -- certainly not noticed by any law enforcement officers. All I can say is that it was a darned good thing that no one brought an air cannon. |
