Sabbatical 1998 - Day 9

One day, wrested.

"And on the seventh day ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day..."
- Genesis 2:2a

We rested too, although we didn't do anything as spectacular as creating a universe. Plus, this is the ninth day and, while it happened to be a Sunday, it's not the Sabbath, really...  But I digress...

As some of you know, I occasionally suffer from an intestinal malady -- a real nasty one if it wants to be.  I spent most of last night with a three-digit degree fever fighting off some infection or other.  Feeling much, much better today, however, I'm always left with some residual discomfort. I'll spare the details since I don't know precisely to whom I'm speaking.  Hello World Wide Web!

We went to "Downtown Disney" for a while to soak up some humidity.  Saw Planet Hollywood, but didn't bother going in.  I'm nowhere chic enough for that place.  Spent some serious time at the Virgin-Atlantic record store.   Wow.  The place was huge and, I swear, they had at least one copy of just about everything ever recorded; every album by eighties glam rock band Warrant, for instance.  No normal store would bother with that level of detail.  No accounting for taste, I guess.

Disney FireworksThere was also a 24 screen cinema... and nothing worth watching on any of them.

One end of the "town" was almost completely closed down.   The clubs and shops there don't come to life until 6pm and then they stay open until the wee hours of the morning.  I was in no mood to party like a dancin' fool (and certainly not in any condition to do so) so a return visit was not on the agenda. The 8-Track Experience looked like a seriously groovy seventies place, though.  Right ON! Dynamite! Shazbot!

At the end of the day I was able to snap a picture of the Magic Kingdom fireworks display from right off of our balcony.  I thought this was a nice cap to a day.

Must rest and get healthy.  Big plans for Day 10.
